Ladies Learning Chess: Week 1

The doors opened at 7pm for ladies who did not know how to set up a chess board or how the pieces move and for those ladies who just wanted to brush up on their game before Jack started his PowerPoint Presentation which started at 8.15 – perfect timing.

We also had two university student journalists taking a keen interest in what we are wanting to achieve which interested me because I used to be a photographic journalist before getting into chess.
Most ladies were interviewed individually: the journalists listened and recorded our back-stories before and after Jack’s power point presentation called, ‘Ladies Learning Chess with Jack the Lad’
University Student Journalist Joely Bell said she is interested in following our progress and will be coming back to learn how to play better chess next week, which is great news!!

The Next Ladies Learning Chess training session is Monday 29/04/24 at Eccles Community Chess Center. 21 Church St. Eccles. M30 0DF to arrive between 7pm and 7.30 – PowerPoint Presentation starts 8.15. Free refreshments or bring your own. All donations welcome.
During the presentation, Jack went through a game that Eccles Intermediate Chess Coach Leila Peymani played against female GM Trang Thanh Hoang in Singapore 1995.
I think Ladies Learning Chess will be embraced by the Communities of Eccles and Manchester and fielding the 1st all Ladies Chess team in Manchester is on the horizon.
Many thanks to all the lovely ladies who joined us, we all felt comfortable with each other and a special thanks to ‘Jack’ for his educational and amazingly amusing power point presentation.
I hope you lovely ladies and others can join us at the same place, at the same time, next Monday for another great night of learning chess. I look forward to us working together as a team, sharing and enjoying each other’s company whilst learning how to play this beautiful game called CHESS.
