A very respectable draw I must say!

Man of the Match: Dennis Owen

I have seen Dennis on the chess circuit for a good few years now and it was such an honour to have him play for Eccles. I hope moving forward that he decides to play for us again in the future.

Dennis keeps a beautiful chess diary which dates back to 2017 where he records all his games and has played in over 850 chess matches during his chess career.

Dennis was named Man of the Match by team Captain Dave Toole because he is the 1st Eccles player to have beaten the junior chess prodigy Mahin Rughani (11yrs) rated 1900+

Dennis and Mahin are both strong and solid players with very similar ratings and it would have not been easy as easy game for Dennis to win but we are so glad that he did.

Dennis said he really enjoyed his game against Mahin and Mahin said he is very much looking forward to a rematch.

This is what chess is all about, good sportsmanship and well played to the both of you!!
