There’s no getting away from it, Eccles was totally crushed!! I have no idea how we lost so convincingly but sometimes these things happen, either way, there is always another match, win or lose a good game is always a good game! A very well deserved win for the Mighty Blue Club and Well Played!

Man of the Match: Robert Newton (Blue Club)

Bob played top board v Ali Jaunooby who was 280 points stronger than Bob, and Bob beat him, what more can I say other than, Way to go Bob! Nice Win!!

2nd Match Result:

MCF – D Division

In contrast to the A Division match result Eccles D team managed to turn the tables and tipped the balance in Eccles favour.

It was an extremely hard fought match and Eccles won by only half a point. Some really close games were had and well played to all who took part!!

Man of the Match: Chris Lysons
Chris is a real trooper, always has been, always will be.

I saw Chris leaning against the wall looking at his game whilst his opponent Dan Burgess was sat at the board doing the same thing. Chris had trapped Dan’s black King which had travelled right across the board to the h1 square. After a while Chris realised the game was drawn when earlier it looked lost: it was a sight to behold when Chris turned his frown upside down. Nicely done Chris!

It’s great when something like this happens and it was so refreshing to see that Dan had mentioned their game on ChAMPS Chess Chat. Thx Dan and I’m so pleased you enjoyed your game 👍

I know we got crushed playing the A match but winning D was far more important to Eccles because we are now in line for promotion from D to C Division next season. So come on Team D we can do this!!
