Great games were had by all!
Man of the Match : Dan Cook. Dan the Man first joined Eccles eight months ago and celebrated his first win after drawing once and losing five out of his six previous games.
Dan told me his fiancée said, “if you lose again, don’t worry, I will still be here when you get back.” 😂
Dan is a very successful bee keeper and if anyone would like one of his first jars of honey from this seasons crop please let me know.
Whoop Whoop! Well done Dan!!

The result could have easily resulted in a draw or even reversed, so yeah, well played team Eccles.
Man of the Match: Johnny Hunt: Johnny aged ten years played and won in his fourth classic league game, how cool is that?!
Eccles fielded their first father and son tag team. Johnny’s Dad known as Captain Ken played and won his first classic league game. Great performance and well played!
This is what Ken said about young Johnny,
Johnny first discovered his love for chess at the start of 2025, aged 10, after watching his dad and granddad go head to head in their annual Christmas match. Fascinated by the game, he jumped straight into learning with the help of chess.com, where he quickly got hooked on puzzles and strategy tips. In the spring, he took things to the next level by joining Eccles Chess Club, where he’s been learning the art of competitive over the board chess, and loving every minute of it!
