Eccles 3 – 3 Blue Club

MCF – C Division
Good games were had by all! In actual fact the Blue Club played fantastically well considering the rating differences across all six boards. On paper Eccles should have won this but the game results fell equally in both camps, so yeah, well challenged! This was the first time the Mighty Blue Club played at the Eccles high street venue and the consensus was they preferred the Eccles home match venue which is obviously great news for Eccles.
Man of the Match: Patrik Tzortakos.
Greek Patrik is great! He started playing for Eccles about two and a half years ago when he first joined us on Wednesday club night, he would sit in his favourite spot and be quite happy studying on his own and was always given the clubs best wooden chess board to practice on. After a few weeks Eccles player Marcial Flores (Totty) started to play against him and gave him an estimated entry level rating of 1700 which I think was the highest estimated rating an Eccles player had ever been given before or after. Six months later having playing his first 10 maches his known rating rose to 1985.
Patrik started playing league matches for Eccles in 2022 and his live rating after a few highs and lows is now 1865. Nice one Patrik.
Since Patrik joined us as a single man he has since got married and is now a Dad to a beautiful daughter named Danai. Patrik has since left Salford and now lives in Warrington but still continues to play for Eccles in the Manchester League and also plays for Northwich in the Warrington League. It was a Jobava London game. My opponent got an advantage out of the opening being two pawns up, but I got the initiative. I won the game in a time scramble with just a couple of minutes on the clock. Overall a good and fun game!
