Eccles Supporting Junior Chess

Hello Chess People,

I would like to say a big thank you to two Junior Eccles Players Johnny Hunt and Elsa Low for taking part in the 4th Warrington Junior Chess Chess Championships 2025

Young Johnny who is new to chess playing for Eccles was very brave to have competed against much stronger players than himself in the Knights section. Johnny is more of a classic player and prefferes the long game rather than quick games and will be playing for Eccles competing in a classic league match tomorrow. Well done Johnny for taking part in today’s tournament, keep studying and better luck next time.

Very well played to Elsa aged only nine years. This was Elsa’s first tournament and she managed to win four out of her six games against opponents who were at least three or four years older than herself in the pawn section and ranked first place after her first three games

Elsa placed 6th out of 29 players and was awarded a special certificate for winning more than half of her games which is a great achievement for someone so young taking part in her first tournament.

Young Elsa said that she found the tournament very exciting and that she feels proud that she was ranked number 1 after the first half.

Well done to both Johnny and Elsa and keep up the good work and Enjoy!!!!
