After a bit of a rocky start, good games were had by all!
Man of the Match. Kyle Pelling.
I think Kyle Pelling is just great! He’s been on the chess circuit for a good few years playing chess all over the world and taking part in various tournaments, but I don’t really know that much about him.
All I do know is that his dad, Vic, has been there all the way through Kyle’s chess journey.
Vic recognised that his son had a talent for chess at a very early age, so much so he appeared on Granadad Reports: https://shorturl.at/ZWtRX at the age of only eight years.
Vic has encouraged, helped and supported Kyle all the way and continues to do so to this very day.
Kyle joined Eccles about three years ago, playing in different leagues and it’s been fun. I can’t ever remember him ever actually having lost a game playing for Eccles. That’s why it’s so good to have him play for us when he can.
I have been following and watching Kyle grow and develop into the young man he is today and it’s great to know he can still play the odd game for team Eccles when you consider his ECF rating of 2000+ A very impressive player for an eighteen year old!
All we all want for Kyle is to be the best he can be whilst enjoying every move he takes.
I have found Kyle to be a quiet young man of a gentle nature but he sure is ruthless over the board!! Keep up the good work Kyle, and well played!!
Vic commented – Just a really proud dad, I’m lucky that I can spend time with my 18 year old son, not many dads can say that!
Vic and Kyle make a great father and son tag team and an inspiration to us all!

Monday: 7pm until 8pm Ladies and Learners play time. 8pm Tuition and mentoring with guest speaker.
Wednesday: Chess for Fun with friendly or ECF Rated games. All levels of play welcome!
